Every Child Deserves a Strong Start

One of the greatest gifts we can give a child is the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed from the very beginning. As a community advocate, a mother, and someone who has spent years working with children and families, I've seen firsthand how early education can change the course of a child's life.

Head Start is a federally funded program that provides free, high-quality preschool education for eligible families. It does so much more than prepare children for kindergarten. It helps build confidence, encourages a love of learning, provides health and developmental screenings, and gives parents access to resources that strengthen the entire family.

The application period is now open, and I encourage every family that may qualify to take advantage of this incredible opportunity. A strong educational foundation lasts a lifetime, and every child deserves that chance.

Throughout my years serving children—as a Guardian ad Litem, in children's ministry, and through community advocacy—I have learned that success doesn't begin in high school or even elementary school. It begins long before that. When we invest in our youngest learners, we invest in stronger families, better schools, safer neighborhoods, and a brighter future for everyone.

Programs like Head Start remind us that every child matters. They remind us that where a child starts should never determine where they can go.
